Stars shut out Texas Wesleyan 4-0

OCU converts two double plays

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University blanked Texas Wesleyan 4-0 on Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Sarah Fisher clouted a two-run home run to lift Oklahoma City. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, went to 27-3, 20-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Fisher crushed a 1-1 pitch beyond the left-field wall during OCU's three-run third inning. Before Fisher's blast, Kaitlyn Jones bunted for a base hit. Kennedy Jackson reached third base on Jones' bunt, then scored on an error.
OCU tacked on a run as Mallory McCoy crushed an RBI double to the left-field wall in the fifth.
Christie Betker tallied her eighth shutout of the year. Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., improved to 15-0 on the season by striking out five in a complete-game effort.
McCoy, a sophomore from Mustang, Okla., provided OCU with a 2-for-3 day and an RBI, while Amy Crabaugh, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., had a 2-for-4 day with a run scored, and Jones, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., pieced together a 2-for-4 outing and scored a run.
The Stars turned two double plays on the day. OCU posted a double play to end the first and another to finish off the third.
OCU faces Langston at noon, then Texas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Sunday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
