Stars outlast Mid-America Christian

OCU sweeps doubleheader from Mid-America Christian

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University took a pair of wins 5-0 and 5-4 in eight innings over Mid-America Christian on Thursday at Evangel Field.
Christie Betker earned a victory and a save in the twin bill. The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, improved to 21-3, 14-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Betker shut out Mid-America Christian on five hits. Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., struck out eight while collecting her 11th victory, 10th complete game and fifth shutout.
Kennedy Jackson put OCU up 5-0 with a two-run base hit in the sixth inning. Jackson led off the game with a triple deep into right field, then scored on Kaitlyn Jones' infield hit.
In the third, the Stars increased their lead to 2-0 when Sarah Fisher doubled into right-center field to bring home Jackson.
Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Nicole Robinson and Jaden Shores each went 1-for-3 with a run scored.
In the second game, Oklahoma City took advantage of Mid-America Christian errors to score twice in the eighth inning. Betker finished off the sweep by striking out Mikaylee Allen with the tying run in scoring position.
Baileigh Loux nailed an RBI single to put the Stars on top 3-1 in the seventh.
Jackson was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Loux finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Oklahoma City faces Mid-America Christian in a 2 p.m. doubleheader Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
