OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University collected a 4-2 win over Concordia (Neb.) on Tuesday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, split the doubleheader as Concordia won 10-7 in the second game. OCU went to 7-2 on the season.
In the first game, Christie Betker held Concordia to two runs on four hits and a walk through seven innings. Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., struck out nine in a complete-game outing.
Concordia had only one runner in scoring position through five innings when Tori Homolka tripled leading off the second. Betker (4-0) retired Concordia in order in the first, third and fourth innings.
Amy Crabaugh put OCU ahead 2-0 in the second by crushing her first home run of the year. Crabaugh pounded a two-run shot over the left-field wall.
In the fifth, Kaitlyn Jones reached home plate on a wild pitch. The Stars extended their lead to 4-0 as Brooklyn Mason socked an RBI base hit to center field.
Jones, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Crabaugh, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., had two RBIs.
In the second game, OCU led 4-2 after the first inning and 7-4 after the second. In the first inning, Shelbey Cornelson smacked a two-run triple deep to right field to give the Stars a 3-2 advantage. Mason added a sacrifice fly.
Baileigh Loux put OCU on top 5-4 with a sacrifice fly to center field in the second inning. Jaden Shores drove in two runs with a base hit to center.
Concordia went ahead using OCU errors in the sixth.
Shores, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., posted a 2-for-4 line with three RBIs, while Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. Cornelson, a sophomore from Tuttle, Okla., was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The Stars return to Sooner Athletic Conference play in a 1 p.m. twin bill Friday against Southwestern Christian at Dolese Park in Oklahoma City.
