OCU smacks Southwestern Christian 7-1

Teams to make up second game of doubleheader at later date

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 7-1 win over Southwestern Christian on Friday at the Southwestern Christian Softball Field.
Christie Betker held Southwestern Christian to two hits. The Stars, ranked fourth in the NAIA, improved to 8-2, 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The game ended after six innings due to rain. The second game of the doubleheader will be made up at a date to be determined.
Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., stayed perfect through four innings. Kaileah Johannsen led off the fifth with a single for Southwestern Christian's first hit of the game. Nevaeh Daniel's double leading off the sixth accounted for the other hit off Betker.
Betker struck out eight and allowed an unearned run on two hits and a walk in six innings. Betker moved to 5-0 on the season with her sixth complete game in six starts.
OCU took a first-inning 1-0 edge on Jaden Shore's RBI double deep to left-center field. Nicole Robinson doubled in a run in the second. In the third, the Stars plated three runs using two Southwestern Christian errors.
Kennedy Jackson drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth. Lexi Duff drove in another run in the sixth on a base hit through the middle of the infield in the sixth.
OCU's Brooklyn Mason, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., turned in a 3-for-4 day with a run scored, while Amy Crabaugh, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3, scored a run and knocked in a run. Baileigh Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., scored a run and drove in a run while collecting three walks.
The Stars' next scheduled games are against Bethany (Kan.) at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ann Lacy Stadium.
