Stars win pair in Red Dirt Classic

OCU takes victory in first game at Hall of Fame Stadium since 2013

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University opened play in the Red Dirt Classic with a 6-0 win over Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Friday at Hall of Fame Stadium.
The Stars knocked off Lyon (Ark.) 5-1 on Friday night. OCU, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, went to 4-0 on the year.
The tournament marks OCU's return to Hall of Fame Stadium for the first time since May 4, 2013 in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament. Hall of Fame Stadium was the site of OCU's home games from 1993-2007.
Christie Betker twirled a three-hit shutout against Our Lady of the Lake. Betker, a senior from Reno, Nev., allowed a walk while striking out seven. Betker (2-0) retired 12 batters in a row during the game.
Baileigh Loux crushed a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the fifth inning. In the seventh, Nicole Robinson smacked an RBI double to left-center field. Robinson reached home plate when she and Kennedy Jackson executed the double steal.
Against Lyon, Loux hit her second homer of the day to left-center field in the first inning. Lexi Duff hammered a solo shot to right-center field in the sixth.
Shelbey Cornelson limited Lyon to an unearned run on five hits and a walk in six innings. Cornelson, a sophomore from Tuttle, Okla., struck out eight.
