OCU falls 10-0 to Southwestern Assemblies of God

Stars' streak of scoring one or more runs ends at 218 games

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University absorbed a 10-0 setback to Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Friday night at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars were held scoreless for the first time this year. OCU, ranked 21st in NAIA baseball, went to 14-11, 5-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Agustin Martinez shut out Oklahoma City on six hits while striking out seven. Martinez (3-2) collected his first whitewash of the season.
Southwestern Assemblies of God dealt the Stars their first shutout in 218 games since falling 2-0 to third-ranked Bellevue (Neb.) on Feb. 18, 2017. Prior to that, OCU had a streak of scoring in 138 consecutive games since its previous shutout April 22, 2014 vs. East Central at Jim Wade Stadium.
Corinthian Jones sparked Southwestern Assemblies of God with a two-run home run in the first inning.
Peyton Crispin, a senior from Lookeba, Okla., went 2-for-3 to lead the Stars. John Anthon, Gunner Halter, Dylan Taylor and Fredric Walter added base hits for OCU.
Oklahoma City finishes its series against Southwestern Assemblies of God with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium.
