Stars fall short to Mid-America Christian 2-1

OCU posts 16-13 advantage in shots

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped a 2-1 decision to Mid-America Christian on Tuesday evening at Evangel Field.
Madi Caputo supplied OCU with its goal. The Stars fell to 6-2, 4-2 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer.
Caputo, a junior from Broken Arrow, Okla., tallied her third goal of the season in the 23rd minute. Caputo intercepted the ball on a clearout try by the Mid-America Christian defense, then booted the ball across the field towards the left post into the net from 10 yards away.
Mid-America Christian led 2-0 in the ninth minute. The Stars took more shots (16) than Mid-America (13).
Josie Knox, a junior from Edmond, Okla., collected four saves for OCU. Mid-America's Jennifer Starwalt made four saves in the second half. Sofia Granados Carvajal took a shot that Starwalt turned away in the final three minutes. Mid-America Christian remained undefeated in league play at 12-1, 6-0 SAC.
OCU takes on Southwestern Christian at 5 p.m. Saturday at Brian Harvey Field.
