OCU turns in 8-0 romp over Bacone

Stars score season-high eight goals

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University stomped Bacone 8-0 on Sunday at Brian Harvey Field.
Sofia Carvajal Granados produced her first hat trick with OCU. The Stars went to 6-1 in women's soccer.
Granados, a junior from Bogota, Colombia, posted three goals and three assists. Granados doubled her goal output on the season.
April Hill knocked in a pair of goals, while McLain Moss turned in a goal and two assists as the Stars accumulated their season high in goals. Madison McEwin picked up a goal and an assist, and Millie Templeman also scored for Oklahoma City.
Grandos opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 15th minute. Granados' other goals came in the 27th minute and the 31st minute with both goals assisted by Moss.
In the 22nd minute, Granados left behind the Bacone goalkeeper and found Hill, who was left alone by the defense near the goal. Hill capitalized for a 2-0 OCU lead.
In the 43rd minute, Granados set up Moss on a tap pass for another goal and a 6-0 Stars advantage. Hill scored one more in the 59th minute off McEwin's assist.
McEwin booted in a goal in the 64th minute off assists from Granados and Madi Caputo for the final margin.
The Stars kept their opponent scoreless for the fifth time this season. Abigail Banks, a junior from Sand Springs, Okla., collected her first career shutout. OCU limited Bacone to one shot, which Banks saved with 13:29 left in the contest.
OCU returns to its Sooner Athletic Conference slate 5 p.m. Tuesday at Mid-America Christian in Oklahoma City.
