Stars take doubleheader from Bethany

OCU wins 3-2, 5-3

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University swept a twin bill from Bethany (Kan.) 3-2 and 5-3 on Saturday afternoon at Ann Lacy Stadium.
The Stars rallied behind Kaitlyn Jones' sacrifice fly in the first game and Brooklyn Mason's two-run base hit in the second game. Oklahoma City, ranked fourth in NAIA softball, improved to 10-2 on the year.
In the first game, Jones lofted a sacrifice fly to left field to bring home Nicole Robinson for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Robinson led off the inning by poking a triple to the right-center field wall.
Amy Crabaugh crushed a two-run home run beyond the center-field wall to tie the game 2-2 in the fifth.
Lexi Duff reeled in her first victory of the year. Duff, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., pitched the final two innings and fanned four. Duff (1-1) struck out the side after entering the game with a runner in scoring position in the sixth.
Robinson, a senior from Rochester, Ill., went 2-for-2, while Jones, a sophomore from Edmond, Okla., was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Mason, a junior from Lone Grove, Okla., added a 1-for-2 performance with a run scored.
OCU completed the sweep as Mason swatted a two-run single into center. The Stars took a 4-3 edge in the fourth.
Jaden Shores added a solo blast over the left-field wall in the sixth. In the third, Oklahoma City scored off Mallory McCoy's infield hit. Mason reached home plate on a wild pitch.
Mason went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Shores, a senior from Newcastle, Okla., was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run driven in. Baileigh Loux, a senior from Reno, Nev., was 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Kennedy Jackson, a senior from Moore, Okla., went 2-for-4.
