OCU notches 2-0 win over Wayland Baptist

Stars post first 2-0 start in league play since 2016

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University whitewashed Wayland Baptist (Texas) 2-0 on Saturday at Brian Harvey Field.
Lucas de Freitas provided OCU with the winning score, which was the first goal of the match. The Stars have opened the season 2-0, 2-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference men's soccer.
De Freitas, a junior from São Paulo, Brazil, fired in an unassisted goal at the 9:38 mark. Guilherme Grave added another goal in the 40th minute.
Danilo Vilani, a junior from Goiânia, Brazil, kept Wayland Baptist without a goal. Vilani collected all four saves in the second half to preserve the OCU lead. Vilani reeled in saves with 20:24 left in the match and 10:47 remaining in the contest.
OCU held Wayland Baptist without a shot in the first half. Wayland Baptist ended up with a 6-5 edge in shots. The Stars defeated Wayland Baptist for the first time since a 2-0 win Oct. 28, 2015. Wayland Baptist went 3-0-1 against OCU since then.
Oklahoma City meets Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) for a 1 p.m. tilt Tuesday in Waxahachie, Texas.
