OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University prevailed over Mount Mercy (Iowa) in a 20-17 shootout Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Oklahoma City's Dalton Reed pounded a two-run home run in the eighth inning for the final margin. The Stars, ranked 16th in NAIA baseball, went to 4-4 on the year.
Reed crushed a two-run shot over the left-field wall with two out in the eighth to help OCU secure the win. Spencer Wiskus cut the Stars' lead to 18-17 in the top of the inning on a groundout to bring home Mount Mercy's Kainmana Paaluhi.

Jake Patterson, a senior lefty from Ardmore, Okla., collected the victory by working five innings. Patterson (1-1) allowed one earned run.
OCU piled up 10 runs in the first inning. Bryson Lierle hammered a three-run blast beyond the left-field wall for a 5-0 advantage. With the bases full, Cross Factor cleared the bases with a triple deep to right to give the Stars a 10-0 lead.
