DALLAS - Oklahoma City University defeated the University of North Texas Dallas 73-66 in Sooner Athletic Conference action on Thursday night at the Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Court in South Dallas.
UNTD (6-3, 1-3 SAC) led 49-48 after three quarters before OCU (7-1, 2-1) opened the fourth quarter with a 12-2 run to take a 60-51 lead on a jumper by senior guard
Erika Ankney at the 6:37 mark. The Trailblazers would cut OCU's lead to 67-64 on a 3-pointer by Zyunn Cormier at the 2:17 mark but that would be as close as the home team would get. Ankney's lay-up at the 1:27 mark provided OCU an insurmountable 71-64 lead.
Ankney finished with a team-high 25 points while junior guard
Paige Pendley finished with a season-high 14 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard
Annilia Dawn contributed 13 points and senior center
Abby Selzer notched her eight consecutive double-double, finishing with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
OCU made 28 of 64 field goal attempts (43.8%) while UNTD made 27 of 80 shots (33.8%). The Stars finished with a 51-41 rebounding edge.
OCU returns to action on Saturday afternoon with a conference road game at Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas).
