OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University fell to John Brown (Ark.) 17-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 on Tuesday night at Abe Lemons Arena in the Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball tournament quarterfinals.
Ella Lofton provided the Stars with 17 kills and 12 digs. OCU went to 18-10.
Lofton, a senior from Cedar Park, Texas, collected her 14th double-double of the year and third consecutive double-double. Sophia Salak accumulated 44 assists, four digs, two aces and two blocks for her 13th 40-assist performance of the year.
The Stars' Olivia Nutter, a senior from Plano, Texas, nailed 12 kills, while Josie Thomas, a freshman from Choctaw, Okla., hauled in 24 digs to reach 20 digs for the ninth time this season.
Kenady Bertling, a senior from Baytown, Texas, notched her season high with six blocks, and Catelyn Vargas, a junior from Lubbock, Texas, contributed eight kills and three blocks for Oklahoma City.
Salak, a senior from McKinney, Texas, moved her OCU career record assist total to 3,498. Lofton increased her career kill total to 1,119 to get into the top five in program history in that category.
