OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University tripped up Champion Christian (Ark.) 84-60 on Saturday before a homecoming crowd at Abe Lemons Arena.
Abby Selzer fueled Oklahoma City with season highs in points (22) and rebounds (14). The Stars (3-0) remained unbeaten this season in women's basketball.
Selzer, a senior from Thomas, Okla., has notched double-doubles in all three of OCU's games in 2021-22. Annilia Dawn, a senior from Amarillo, Texas, turned in her season bests with 14 points, four rebounds, five assists and three steals, while Erika Ankney, a senior from Harrah, Okla., collected 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals.
With the score tied 48-48 at the 4:08 mark of the third quarter, OCU responded with a 7-0 run. Selzer downed a putback and free throw to spark the surge.
Fiona Wilson scored on a transition layup to give Oklahoma City its largest advantage of the day. Paige Pendley swiped the ball to start the break that led to Wilson's lay-in that put OCU in front 82-55 with 1:38 to go. The Stars pocketed a season-best 13 steals.
OCU looks ahead to Sooner Athletic Conference play in a road matchup with Central Christian (Kan.) at 6 p.m. Nov. 18 in McPherson, Kan.
