OKLAHOMA CITY – Langston defeated Oklahoma City University 84-75 in a hard-fought Sooner Athletic Conference women's basketball contest on Saturday afternoon at Abe Lemons Arena.

The contest went back-and-forth throughout the first three quarters, with the Stars holding a 39-37 lead at halftime and a 57-55 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

OCU (4-1, 1-1 SAC) took a 61-57 lead on a jumper by junior forward
Fiona Wilson at the 8:54 mark of the fourth quarter before Langston (7-1, 2-0) went on 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 69-63 lead at the 4:54 mark.

Senior center
Abby Selzer then cut the Lady Lion lead to 69-67 on a layup at the 4:19 mark but Langston responded with a 12-2 run to build an insurmountable 81-69 lead with 1:04 remaining in the contest.

Senior guard
Erika Ankney finished with a season-high 27 points and senior guard
Annilia Dawn contributed 16 points for the Stars. Senior center finished with 15 points and a team-high 19 rebounds.

Asheika Alexander led Langston with 22 points while her teammate Talia Edwards contributed 19 points and 12 rebounds.

OCU will return to action at the Halo Classic in San Antonio next Tuesday and Wednesday. The Stars will open that tournament against host Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) on Tuesday before facing LSU-Alexandria on Wednesday.
