Late Goal Lifts OCU To 1-0 Senior Night Win Over Texas Wesleyan

OKLAHOMA CITY –Senior Sofia Carvajal Granados scored from 12 yards out in the 69th minute to lead Oklahoma City University to a 1-0 Sooner Athletic Conference win over Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday night at Brian Harvey Field. The Senior Night win pushes OCU (8-5, 3-3 SAC) up the conference standings with three conference game remaining, all of them on the road.

Granados, who was slightly injured only minutes before on a physical play, scored the breakaway goal off of an assist from senior April Hill.

The game was evenly played with OCU finishing with an 11-9 edge in total shots and a 6-5 advantage in shots on goal. OCU senior goalkeeper Josie Knox and TWU (5-5-2, 0-4-1) keeper Julia Villalobos finished with five saves apiece.

OCU will start its three-game regular season closing road stretch on Friday at Southwestern Christian. Kickoff against the Eagles is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Cagle Family Field in Bethany.
