OKLAHOMA CITY –John Brown (Ark.) edged Oklahoma City University 1-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Brian Harvey Field.
 
JBU (5-7, 3-2 SAC) scored the wining goal on a successful penalty kick by Jacob Zamarron in the sixth minute.
 
OCU (7-5, 1-4) had several promising scoring opportunities but could not find the net against the Golden Eagles. Senior John Woodhead nearly evened the score in the 20th minute but his rocket shot deflected off the right post and back onto the field of play.
 
The contest was evenly played with John Brown finishing with a 14-13 edge in total shots and each team with seven shots on goal. Senior Danilo Vilani kept the Stars in the game by making five saves. Kyle Hix finished with seven saves for JBU.
 
OCU will return to action for its 2021 home finale and Senior Day against Texas Wesleyan. Kickoff in that contest is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Brian Harvey Field.
