SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. – Oklahoma City University became the No. 7 seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference men's basketball tournament which opens play Tuesday with quarterfinals on league campus sites.
The Stars' quarterfinal contest matches second-seeded John Brown (Ark.) (26-4) against Oklahoma City (15-15) at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Siloam Springs, Ark.
No. 1-ranked Mid-America Christian (29-1) squares off with eighth seed Southwestern Christian (14-14) at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday inside the Gaulke Activity Center in Oklahoma City. Other Tuesday quarterfinal tilts – which each have 7 p.m. tip times – include No. 3 seed Texas Wesleyan (21-8) vs. Science & Arts of Oklahoma (16-14) in Fort Worth, Texas; and fourth seed Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) (22-7) against Wayland Baptist (Texas) (20-10) in Waxahachie, Texas.
The Evangels collected the SAC regular-season championship this season for the second time ever.
The tournament semifinals and championship will take place March 6-7 at the Hutcherson Center in Plainview, Texas. The SAC Tournament championship tips off 3:30 p.m. March 7 on the Wayland Baptist University campus.
Oklahoma City secured the 2019 SAC Tournament title by edging John Brown 74-73 on March 2 at Abe Lemons Arena in Oklahoma City. Trae Bryant provided the dramatic bucket with 4.6 seconds left to bring OCU its 10th SAC Tournament crown and nab all-tournament acclaim. Chris Williams of the Stars earned the tournament most valuable player with 22 points.
