Stars hold fourth in OUAZ Invitational

Eldredge holds piece of sixth place individually

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Melissa Eldredge stood front and center for Oklahoma City University with a top-10 showing in the Ottawa-Arizona Invitational on Monday at Wigwam Golf Course.
The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA women's golf, placed fourth through 18 holes. Eldredge, a senior from Eufaula, Okla., stood knotted for sixth place individually.
Oklahoma City put together a 337 team score on the par-72, 6,081-yard course. The Stars stood 10 strokes off the pace set by top-ranked British Columbia, which took the 2019 national championship at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City last May. Seventh-rated Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) sat one shot behind British Columbia in second place.
Eldredge shot an 81, which placed her seven strokes behind Embry-Riddle's Jessica Williams, the first-day leader. Eldredge made par 11 times Monday.
Clair Hill provided OCU with an 84, which put her tied for 13th place. Hill, a junior from Gig Harbor, Wash., sank a birdie while scoring par on eight holes for the Stars.
OCU's Lauren Behnken and Natalie Gough each shot an 86 to stand tied for 17th place. Behnken, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., picked up par on eight holes, and Gough, a sophomore from Bixby, Okla., accumulated six par scores.
Lauryn Pritchard, a sophomore from Allen, Texas, had a 91. Arianna Medina, a junior from Phoenix, carded an 84 while playing as an individual. Medina nailed a birdie.
The OUAZ Invitational will conclude Tuesday with a 9:30 a.m. CST (8:30 a.m. MST) shotgun start.
