OCU falls to Mid-America Christian 89-75

Stars build 10-point lead with 10:01 left in first half

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University dropped an 89-75 decision to Mid-America Christian on Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
Anthony Davis, a senior from Lewisville, Texas, collected 24 points and 12 rebounds for the Stars. Oklahoma City went to 10-9, 3-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while Mid-America Christian, ranked second in NAIA men's basketball, improved to 19-0, 10-0 in the SAC.
Davis notched his team-best fifth double-double of the season. Davis posted season highs in free throws made (11) and free throws attempted (18) while shooting 6-for-9 from the field.
Eddie Smith knocked down back-to-back treys to provide the Stars a 20-10 advantage midway through the first half. Mid-America Christian rallied as Tony Dorsey hit key 3-pointers. Dorsey's 3 tied the game 34-34 with 2:25 to go in the first, then Dorsey nailed a trey to put the Evangels on top 39-37 in the final minute of the half.
Darrion Willies slammed home a dunk with 11:17 remaining in the game to give OCU its last lead of the game 53-52. Ashford Golden had free throws to push Mid-America's advantage into double digits with 1:02 left.
Rashaun Coleman, a junior from Houston, supplied the Stars with 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, while Kealon Clayborne, a junior from Cedar Hill, Texas, produced 11 points and three rebounds. Smith, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., added 10 points and two steals.
OCU takes on Central Christian (Kan.) at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in McPherson, Kan.
