Flores finishes with game-winning goal in 60th minute

OKLAHOMA CITY – Andrew Flores delivered his second career game-winning goal for Oklahoma City University against Southwestern (Kan.) Sunday night at Brian Harvey Field.
Flores, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, tapped in the decisive goal in the 60th minute Sunday. Oklahoma City won its second straight match, improving to 2-2 overall, while Southwestern fell to 2-2 on the season with the road defeat.
OCU got on the scoreboard first, when Ljubisa Palic rebounded his own shot with a close-range finish inside the 6-yard box. Julio Hernandez assisted off a corner kick.
The Moundbuilders capitalized on offense when a cross from Rosendo Martinez grazed off Anthony Gross' head towards Fabio Schneider, who nailed a header off the crossbar and into the net in the 39th minute. The goal left the game tied at halftime, with Southwestern outshooting the Stars, 5-4, at the break.
Another corner kick opportunity from Hernandez led to the game-winning goal for the Stars. Hernandez, who had already secured an assist on the first OCU goal, stepped up to take the kick and launched a ball to defender Nick Stremel, who sent a pass right to Flores' feet. Flores tapped it in, landing his first points on the year and his fifth career score for Oklahoma City.
The Stars accumulated nine total shots, three on goal while Southwestern had 14 total shots and three on goal. OCU's Andre Salvador collected two saves in the win and upped his season total to 27.
Southwestern tallied 14 shots to OCU's nine on the night. Southwestern's Ram Keller led the Moundbuilders in shots, collecting three on the night.
Oklahoma City returns to the field at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Friends (Kan.) at Brian Harvey Field.
