Stars pummel Southwestern Christian 6-1

Madi Caputo scored two goals to help OCU improve to 5-4

BETHANY, Okla. – Oklahoma City University pummeled Southwestern Christian 6-1 Saturday at Cagle Family Field.
The Stars got two goals from sophomore Madi Caputo, of Broken Arrow, Okla., and improved to 5-4 on the season.
Hailey Terrell got OCU on the scoreboard in the third minute to make the score 1-0.
A minute later, Caputo beat Eagles goalkeeper Ashlynn Haylett in the fourth minute to put the Stars on top 2-0.
OCU improved their lead to 3-0 in the 13th minute when Caputo found Bailey Webb, who beat Haylett.
OCU found its fourth first half goal in the 28th minute. Annie Bragg scored her first goal of the season on a pass from Rachel Brantley to push the Stars' lead to 4-0.
Caputo gave OCU a 5-0 lead in the 31st minute when she beat Haylett for her fourth goal of the season.
Jessica Titsworth also netted her fourth goal of the season in the 69th minute to stretch the OCU lead to 6-0.
In the 87th minute, Melonie Baca put the Eagles on the board when she took a pass from senior Veronica Trujillo and scored to cut the lead to 6-1.
Nadine Steiner and senior goalkeeper Kristina Patterson split time in the goal. Steiner made one save in 72 minutes. Patterson allowed one goal and turned in one save in 18 minutes.
The Stars will return to action against Panhandle State in their Sooner Athletic Conference home opener at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Brian Harvey Field.
