Stars roll to 12-0 drubbing of Panhandle State

Four Stars provide OCU with two goals apiece

OKLAHOMA CITY – Eight different players scored in Oklahoma City University's 12-0 wipeout of Panhandle State on Tuesday at Brian Harvey Field.
Aubrey Armstrong, Ashton Denham, Lyndsey Speer and Jessica Titsworth each added two goals, while Rachel Brantley, Madi Caputo, Kalen Castor and Hailey Terrell added goals for the Stars. Oklahoma City improved to 6-4, 2-0 in Sooner Athletic Conference women's soccer.
The 12 goals mark a season-high for the Stars, as well as the most OCU has scored since 2016, when they defeated Bacone 14-0 on Sept. 27. The most goals Oklahoma City had recorded since that date was six. Titsworth's two scores puts her in the team lead on the season with six goals. Armstrong, Denham and Speer each recorded their first two goals on the year.
Denham captured her two scores in the 29th and 53rd minute, with Chassiti Oglesby and Keilah Ayum picking up assists on her second half goal. Speer scored off a rebound in the 40th minute and 10-yard shot in the 65th, which put OCU up 7-0. Speer assisted Brantley on her goal in the first half as the Stars went up 3-0 in the 30th minute.
Titsworth got both her netters three minutes apart in the second half. The assists came from Caputo and Oglesby, who also both assisted on Armstrong's goals in the 77th and 89th minute.
Oglesby, a sophomore from Frisco, Texas, recorded three assists on the night, while Caputo, a sophomore from Broken Arrow, Okla., notched two assists to go along with her goal. Brantley and Titsworth also picked up assists.
OCU fell short of their season-high in shots set back on Sept. 5, when the Stars defeated Randall 6-0 and mustered 49 shots. The Stars piled up 39 shots, 21 on goal as Panhandle State found one shot in the second half.
Nadine Steiner and Abigail Banks teamed on the shutout, which was OCU's fourth of the year. Steiner, a freshman from Mutlangen, Germany, picked up the win and is now 6-4 on the season.
The Stars travel to Bacone for a 2 p.m. contest Saturday in Muskogee, Okla.
