Stars glide past Bethel 2-0

Grave now sits second on the team in goals

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Guilherme Grave lifted Oklahoma City University past Bethel (Kan.) 2-0 on Friday at Thresher Stadium.
Grave, a junior from São Paulo, Brazil, scored both goals for the Stars. OCU moved to 5-3 on the season.
The Stars took a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute on a goal by Grave from about 10 yards out. Andrew Flores, a senior from Rowlett, Texas, assisted Grave on his second goal in the 84th minute to put Oklahoma City up 2-0 and solidify the win.
Grave collected three shots with two going against the goal. Fernando Toledo and Andrija Sreckovic collected two shots, with Toledo hitting one on target. Aleksa Mitrovic and Dario McDaniel both had one shot. Grave now has three goals on the year for the Stars, ranking second on the team.
The Threshers were assertive, outshooting the Stars 17-9. OCU collected four shots on goal to Bethel's seven.
Andre Salvador, a senior from São Bento do Sul, Brazil, collected seven saves and notched his third shutout of the season as the Stars keeper. Bethel goalkeepers Albert Bratthammar and Caleb Cushman both allowed one goal and collected one save while sharing duties.
Oklahoma City will return to action 4 p.m. Saturday in Bethany, Okla., against Southwestern Christian. The match will mark the conference opener for the Stars. The OCU men finished fourth in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings a year ago.
