Stars edge Our Lady of the Lake 1-0

OCU returns home 7 p.m. Sunday to face Southwestern

SAN ANTONIO – Oklahoma City University men's soccer defeated Our Lady of the Lake (Texas) 1-0 on Monday afternoon at OLLU Field.
Dario McDaniel, a sophomore from Puyallup, Wash., netted the decisive goal for the Stars. OCU secured its first win of the season to improve to 1-2, while Our Lady of the Lake fell to 2-2 with its second straight loss.
McDaniel gathered the first goal of the season for OCU, while also earning his second career goal in a Stars uniform. The winner came just 25 seconds into the second half and the Stars held the lead for the rest of the match.
Ljubisa Palic, a sophomore from St. Gallen, Switzerland, accumulated five shots throughout the game. He now has a team-leading nine shots on the season.
Andre Salvador put together his first shutout of the year for the Stars on Monday. The senior goalkeeper finished with nine saves, mustering his season total to 25 saves in 2019. Salvador ended 2018 with 87 saves and three shutouts.
Our Lady of the Lake outshot the Stars, booting 21 in total and launching nine on target. OCU finished with nine total shots, four on goal.
Oklahoma City will return home to face Southwestern (Kan.) at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 at Brian Harvey Field.
