OCU tops Texas A&M-Texarkana in 2OT

Stars win first overtime match in four years

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University women's soccer team defeated Texas A&M-Texarkana 2-1 in the second overtime period Saturday at Brian Harvey Field.
Madison Lamer, a junior from Edmond, Okla., netted the golden goal off an assist from senior Jessica Titsworth of Midwest City, Okla. in the 108th minute. The goal was Lamers' first as a Star, and Titsworth's first assist of the season. Titsworth now leads OCU with five points on the year. The Stars improved to 3-1, and Texas A&M-Texarkana fell to 5-2-1.
The win marked career victory No. 804 for coach Brian Harvey. Harvey holds the reigns as the only head coach the OCU soccer program has ever had since the men's program began in 1986 and the women started in 1994, possessing a 804-327-68 record.
Bailey Webb, a junior from Oklahoma City, put the Stars on the board first by nailing a 10-yard shot into the upper right corner in the 81st minute. The assist went to Annie Bragg off a corner kick.
Lesly Macias of TAMTU scored the tying goal just minutes later in the 83rd minute to force overtime, netting a five-yard shot off a cross from Davina Frederick.
Stars goalkeeper Nadine Steiner, a freshman from Mutlangen, Germany, collected her third win of the season.
Tinotenda Charuma of TAMTU logged just over 107 minutes in the net, recording nine saves and allowing two goals. Charuma received her second loss of the year for the Eagles.
OCU plays next at 2 p.m. Monday against Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, Okla.
