Four Stars gain all-American acclaim

Madden, Stites become first-team all-Americans, Castille snags second all-American nod

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Four Oklahoma City University men's golfers made the NAIA all-American team.
Jack Madden and Ty Stites of the Stars took first-team honors. Peri'Don Castille picked up second-team acclaim, while Carson Seals landed a third-team nod.
Madden, a freshman from Dungannon, Northern Ireland, Ireland, added an all-American honor to Sooner Athletic Conference golfer of the year, SAC freshman of the year, all-tournament in the SAC Championships and two SAC golfer of the week awards.
Madden posted a 72.35 stroke average with 99 birdies, two eagles, two victories and three runner-up finishes in 30 rounds. Madden collected his sixth top-five finish in the SAC Championships on April 22-23 at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas. Madden carded five sub-70 rounds, including a season-best 66 in the Ottawa-Arizona Invitational on Jan. 28-29 in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Stites, a sophomore from Sallisaw, Okla., grabbed first-team GCAA all-American and all-tournament in the NAIA Championships and SAC Championships.
Stites supplied OCU with a 72.78 scoring average and five top-10 finishes in six tournaments. Stites had his finest finish of the season in the SAC Championships with a tie for second place with his 72-71-71–214 at Tascosa Golf Club in Amarillo, Texas. He scored below 70 three times among his 18 rounds this season.
Castille, a junior from Dallas, produced 73.18 strokes per round with 121 birdies and three eagles in 34 rounds. Castille notched four top-five finishes and six top-10 showings this season. He finished tied for second in the San Antonio Shootout on March 4-5 and tied for ninth in the SAC Championships. Castille is a two-time NAIA all-American.
Seals, a junior from Ardmore, Okla., turned in 73.79 shots per 18 holes with 96 birdies and two eagles. Seals provided the Stars with four top-five finishes and five top-10 showings, including tying for first in the Mid-South on Sept. 24-25 in Newton, Kan.  
This season, the Stars had seven victories and three second-place finishes in 12 events along with a third-place showing in the NAIA Championships. The Stars have won national championships in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018.
