OCU falls 12-7 to York

Stars next play 7 p.m. Tuesday

SHREVEPORT, La. – Oklahoma City University fell short to York (Neb.) 12-7 on Monday night at Pilot Field in the NAIA Baseball Championship Opening Round Shreveport Bracket.
The eighth-ranked Stars (46-13) will play 7 p.m. Tuesday against the winner of the Columbia-LSU-Shreveport game.
Oklahoma City coach Denney Crabaugh remains one win shy of getting to 1,500 career victories. Crabaugh owns a career mark of 1,499-459-2 in his 31st year as OCU coach. OCU leads college baseball in wins since 1991 with 1,433 under Crabaugh.
In the sixth, the Stars rallied for six runs. Dylan Taylor walked with the bases loaded for the first run of the inning. Peyton Crispin and Seth Jones scored when Noah Barks got on board due to an error.
Elliott Cary added an infield single to bring home another run. Tyler Williams came through with a two-run single to left-center to cut OCU's deficit to 11-7.
Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs, while Taylor, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., turned in a 2-for-3 night with a run driven in.
Crispin, a sophomore from Lookeba, Okla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI, and Quinton Walbergh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3.
York wrapped up a day where the Panthers took two wins. Matt Nunes had an RBI base hit to put York ahead 11-1 in the top of the sixth.
Jake Sola hit a ninth-inning home run to propel York past Columbia (Mo.) 7-6 in the first game of the day in the tournament.
