Stars finish sweep of Southwestern Assemblies of God

Cary, Crispin each hit a home run for OCU

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University claimed a 5-2 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Saturday to complete the series sweep at Jim Wade Stadium.
Peyton Crispin sparked the Stars with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. OCU, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, improved to 34-9, 14-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
In the fourth, Tyler Williams stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error, then came into score when Caleb Davis reached on an error by the third baseman. Crispin then nailed his home run to right field to clear the net.
OCU increased its lead to 4-2 in the sixth. Garrett Horton hit a sacrifice fly to score Crispin.
In the seventh, the Stars added another run. Elliot Cary swatted a solo home run to right center field.
Crispin, a sophomore from Lookeba, Okla., went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a home run, while Williams, a junior from Phoenix, was 3-for-4, scored a run and stole a base and Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., went 2-for-4, scored a run, drove in a run and hit a home run.
Brandon Goldston notched six strikeouts while holding SAGU to two runs on eight hits in six innings. Goldston, a junior right-hander from Leedey, Okla., moved to 6-4. Justin Berry pitched two innings in relief striking out four and allowing a hit. Berry entered the game in the seventh with a runner on first base. Tanner Andrews came on and collected his fifth save of the season striking out two.
OCU hits the road to face 12th-ranked Oklahoma Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Doenges Memorial Stadium.
