OCU stumbles against Oklahoma Wesleyan

Cary, Williams smack home runs for No. 5-ranked Stars

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University suffered a 15-4 setback to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday at the Oklahoma Wesleyan Field in a matchup of baseball teams ranked in the NAIA's top 15.
The fifth-ranked Stars got out to a 2-0 lead, but Oklahoma Wesleyan, ranked 13th, came back to get the win. OCU fell to 34-10.
Tyler Williams pounded a home run over the left-center field fence to stake Oklahoma City to a first-inning lead.
Elliott Cary belted a two-run blast beyond the right-center field fence to account for the Stars' other runs.
Brice Smith hit a grand slam, and Drenis Ozuna nailed a two-run homer to spark Oklahoma Wesleyan in a nine-run first-inning rally. Oklahoma Wesleyan had six homers Tuesday after hitting five dingers earlier this season against the Stars.
OCU split the season series with Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Stars prevailed 14-11 over Oklahoma Wesleyan while overcoming a seven-run deficit March 27 in Oklahoma City. OCU has five wins over ranked teams this year.
Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., turned in a 2-for-4 day with two RBIs and a run scored, while Caleb Davis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-3 for the Stars.

Noah Barks, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., collected a double and a triple and scored a run in four at-bats. Barks returned to the lineup for the first time since March 15.
Dylan Grove took the loss for OCU, falling to 5-2 on the year.
Oklahoma City returns to Sooner Athletic Conference play against Central Christian (Kan.) at 5 p.m. Friday in McPherson, Kan.
