OCU smashes Wayland Baptist 15-4

Milligan collected 11th win of the season

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University blew past Wayland Baptist (Texas) 15-4 in the first game of a doubleheader before dropping game two 11-6 on Friday at Wilder Field.
Peyton Crispin turned in a three-hit game for the Stars in game one. Oklahoma City, ranked ninth in the NAIA, improved to 42-12, 21-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference baseball.
In the first game, OCU sealed the deal by plating eight runs in the seventh inning.
the Stars got on the board in the first when Quinton Walbergh singled home Noah Barks, followed by Crispin diving in Elliott Cary and Bryson Lierle scored on a Caleb Davis sacrifice fly.
In the third inning, Davis singled home Lierle and Daxton Marley doubled in Davis to extend OCU's lead to 6-0.
Wayland Baptist managed four runs on four hits in the fourth,  Devlin Smith singled home Gregory Ozuna, then Brendon Foust scored on a wild pitch, Smith came home on a Austin Moya sacrifice fly and Jonathan Ottenwalder singled home Santos cutting the Stars lead to 6-4.
Oklahoma City's seventh inning rally started with three RBI singles by Crispin, Davis and John Anthon, then Barks doubled in Chris Goldston, Jared Hazeldine scored on a sacrifice fly by Cary, Barks scored on an error and Williams doubled home Walbergh.
Crispin, a sophomore from Lookeba, Okla., went 3-for-4, drove in three runs and scored a run, while Davis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., went 2-for-3 with four RBIs and scored twice. Barks, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs.
Bryce Milligan, a junior from Blanchard, Okla., improves to 11-1 on the year throwing six innings, striking out six while allowing four runs on six hits. Tanner Andrews, a senior from Asher, Okla., came on to throw an inning allowing a hit and collecting a strike out.
In the second game, WBU built a 6-0 lead after two innings. Ozuna hit a solo home run in the first, then Nick Rucker scored on a fielder's choice, Daniel Goncalves doubled home Ramon Cruz and then came home to score on Ozuna's double.
OCU got two runs in the third on a single by Davis to score Williams and a double by Crispin that drove in Davis.
The Pioneers got two runs back in their half of the third when Jake Green connected on a two-run home run to left center scoring Rucker.
The Stars rallied back in the fourth, Walbergh singled home Dillon Goddard, Lierle doubled home Barks and Cary and Walbergh scored on a groundout to trim Wayland Baptists lead to 8-6.
WBU got a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Ozuna scored on an error in the fourth and then Foust singled home Yaniel Vargas and Smith doubled in Goncalves.
Cary, Walbergh and Lierle led OCU with two hits apiece. Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., was 2-for-4 with a run scored and a double, while Walbergh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-of-3 with a run scored and an RBI and Lierle had a 2-for-3 game with two RBIs, two doubles and a run scored.
Jake Patterson was saddled with the loss. Patterson, a junior from Ardmore, Okla., threw two innings allowing eight runs on eight hits and collected two strike outs. Kolin Marley, a junior from Norman, Okla., came on to throw 1.1 innings and allowed an unearned run on two hits, while striking out two and Harrison, a freshman from Jones, Okla., finished off the game on the mound going 2.2 innings surrendering two runs on five hits and set down five via the strikeout.  
OCU finishes off the regular season against Wayland Baptist at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wilder Field.
