Stars blast Wayland Baptist 15-1

OCU matches season best by scoring 15 runs

PLAINVIEW, Texas – Oklahoma City University blistered Wayland Baptist (Texas) 15-1 on Saturday at Wilder Field.
Dylan Taylor, Quinton Walbergh and Tyler Williams smacked home runs for the Stars. Oklahoma City, ranked ninth in NAIA baseball, concluded the regular season 43-11, 22-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
The SAC Tournament will take place at Jim Wade Stadium and USAO's Bill Smith Ballpark on May 3-6. OCU picked up the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Pairings will be announced by the SAC.
The Stars equaled their season high for runs scored. Oklahoma City plated 15 runs twice in the series at Wayland Baptist. OCU scored 15 runs against York (Neb.) on Feb. 3. OCU reached double figures in runs scored for the 18th time and in hits for the 28th time this season.
Seth Jones sparked a seven-run fourth inning and put the Stars ahead 10-0 by nailing a two-run single. Williams pounded a two-run blast over the left-center field wall to increase OCU's cushion to 15-0.
Walbergh opened the scoring by clouting a two-run shot over the left-field wall in the first inning. Taylor added a solo blast in the second.
Jones clubbed a two-run double into left-center field to give OCU a 6-0 third-inning lead. Jones, a sophomore from El Reno, Okla., had a 2-for-4 day with two runs scored and four RBIs.
Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., went 2-for-3, scored twice and drove in two runs, while Elliott Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for the Stars.

Caleb Davis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., turned in a 2-for-4 day at the plate with a double and two runs scored, and Bryson Lierle, a junior from Altus, Okla., went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
Taylor, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., knocked in four runs, and Walbergh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., drove home three runs.
