SAC honors Smith from OCU as player of week

Senior from Godley, Texas, scoops up second consecutive SAC softball player of week nod

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University's Jaci Smith raked in Sooner Athletic Conference softball player of the week for the second consecutive week.
During the week of March 25-31, Smith notched a .615 batting average and 1.462 slugging percentage. Smith, a senior catcher from Godley, Texas, became SAC player of the week for the fourth time this season and sixth time as a Star.
She hammered a grand slam to key Oklahoma City to a 20-0 victory over Langston on Tuesday at T.G. Green Park in Langston, Okla. In the first game of the doubleheader, Smith hit a grand slam, blasting her NAIA-high 17th homer in the fifth inning. Smith, a senior from Godley, Texas, went 2-for-3, scored twice and drove in four runs. OCU has scored at least 11 runs in the past eight games and 20 runs three times in that span.
Smith tops the NAIA in homers, runs scored (69), RBIs (74), total bases (123), runs scored per game (2.03), runs driven in a contest (2.18) and total bases a game (3.62). Smith hits .532 with 13 doubles and 22 stolen bases this year.
