OCU pounces on Panhandle State 12-2

Milligan snares 10th victory of season

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pummeled Panhandle State 12-2 on Friday night at Jim Wade Stadium.
John Anthon, Elliott Cary, Peyton Crispin and Tyler Williams launched home runs for OCU. The Stars, ranked ninth in NAIA baseball, went to 39-10, 18-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Caleb Davis smacked a three-run double deep to the left-field wall to empty the bases and put Oklahoma City ahead 5-0 in the first inning.
After Panhandle State cut its deficit to 5-2, John Anthon crushed a solo shot over the right-field wall in the fourth. Williams hammered a three-run homer beyond the right-field wall for a 9-2 OCU lead.
Crispin nailed a solo blast to right in the fifth. Cary belted a two-run shot over the right-field wall in the sixth for the final margin.
Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., put together a 2-for-3 day with two runs scored and four RBIs, while Crispin, a sophomore from Lookeba, Okla., added a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and two runs driven in.
Davis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., notched three runs, and Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., knocked in two RBIs.

Bryce Milligan improved his record to 10-1 on the year with the win. Milligan, a junior right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., struck out seven in six innings. Milligan logged 116 pitches and worked around five walks. Grant Harrison pitched the last inning for OCU.
Oklahoma City scored 10 or more runs for the 15th time this season.
The Stars conclude their series against Panhandle State with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at Jim Wade Stadium. OCU will recognize its seniors.
