Stars stomp Tabor 12-1

OCU piles up at least 10 hits for eight consecutive contest

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University rolled to a 12-1 win over Tabor (Kan.) on Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Chris Goldston pounded a home run and collected the victory for Oklahoma City. The Stars, ranked ninth in NAIA baseball, went to 38-10.
Tyler Williams belted a three-run homer and drove in five runs to power the Stars. Williams' three-run shot off the scoreboard in left field in the eighth inning completed the OCU romp.
Williams opened the Stars' scoring by smacking a two-run double into left field with the bases full in the first inning. Bryson Lierle followed by nailing a run-scoring base hit to left. Williams reached home plate on a double-play ball to give OCU a 4-0 advantage. Oklahoma City's first five hitters picked up base hits.
Noah Barks connected on an RBI double to put the Stars on top 5-0 in the sixth.
Goldston crushed a towering three-run blast over the left-field net to put OCU ahead 9-0 in the seventh. Goldston hit his first collegiate homer.
Goldston, a freshman right-hander from Leedey, Okla., shut down Tabor on two hits and three walks through six innings. Goldston (3-0) struck out four. He retired 11 in a row at one point.
Grant Harrison and Tyler Milligan maintained the OCU shutout until Cameron Pope's homer with two out in the eighth.
Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., boasted of a 3-for-4 day while scoring twice, and Quinton Walbergh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-3, scored twice and doubled. Barks, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., posted a 2-for-4 performance with a run scored and a run knocked in.
The Stars had at least 10 hits for the eighth game in a row and ninth time in 10 games. Oklahoma City scored in double figures for the 14th time and reached double digits in hits for the 25th time this year.
OCU faces Panhandle State at 6 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
