OCU prevails 7-5 over Central Christian

Lierle provides fifth-ranked Stars with go-ahead score in third inning

McPHERSON, Kan. – Oklahoma City University completed the sweep of Central Christian (Kan.) with a 7-5 victory Saturday at the Light Capital Baseball Diamond.
Elliott Cary's seventh-inning home run sealed the win for the Stars. Oklahoma City, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, went to 37-10, 17-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Cary pounded a solo blast beyond the right-field fence to put OCU in front 6-2 in the seventh. Caleb Davis tacked on another run by smacking a double to center.
The Stars overcame a 2-0 first-inning deficit. Dylan Taylor knotted the score by nailing a two-run double into left-center field in the second.
Bryson Lierle swatted a run-scoring single to left for the go-ahead run in the third.
Taylor, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., put together a 3-for-4 day with three RBIs, and Lierle, a junior from Altus, Okla., went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Peyton Crispin, a junior from Lookeba, Okla., turned in a 2-for-5 performance with two runs scored.
Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., drove in two runs and hit his 10th homer of the year.

Brandon Goldston took the victory. Goldston, a junior from Leedey, Okla., struck out six in six innings. Goldston (7-4) worked out of bases-loaded jams in the third and the fifth.
Chris Goldston struck out the side in the seventh. Tyler Milligan fanned two, and Tanner Andrews finished up on the mound.
Central Christian's losing streak reached 20 games. Central Christian (2-33, 1-18 SAC) has not won since a 4-3 victory over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on March 7 in Waxahachie, Texas.
The Stars meet Tabor (Kan.) at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
