OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City seized two Sooner Athletic Conference victories over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 6-0 and 9-0 in Wednesday's doubleheader at Ann Lacy Stadium.
Baileigh Loux, a sophomore from Reno, Nev., led OCU with four hits, four RBIs, three runs scored, with a double and a stolen base. Oklahoma City, ranked No. 2 in NAIA softball, moved to 38-4 on the season and 20-2 in SAC play. SAGU dropped to 21-17 and 16-8 in the conference.
The Stars had four players end Wednesday's doubleheader with at least three hits. Kennedy Jackson, a sophomore from Moore, Okla. and Jaci Smith, a senior from Godley, Texas, each had two of their three total hits in game one.
OCU got on the board in the second when Gaby Zucchiatti laced a single back through the box driving in Morgan McCallum in the second.
OCU pulled away in the fourth rallying for four runs on four consecutive hits. Jackson started with driving in Zucchiatti, then Jackson came home on Smith's single down the left field line. Loux drove in Smith with a missile to deep center field and Brittany Perez singled home Loux.
Jackson would score the final run in the sixth on an error.
Jackson, Loux and Zucchiatti all produced two hits for the Stars in game one. Jackson added an RBI, two runs scored, a triple and a stolen base. Zucchiatti blasted a double, drove in one and scored a run.
Jaden Shores, a junior from Blanchard, Okla., pitched seven shutout innings and allowed only one hits She also tossed two strikeouts and notched her 19th win of the season.
The Stars, took no time getting on the board scoring four runs in the first inning in game one, then added a run in the second and erupted for four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Loux started the scoring with a to right field that scored Jackson. Julianne Abeloe followed with a single that scored Loux, then Bailey Whitmore singled into the corner to drive in Perez and Abeloe.
In the second, Jackson scored on a Loux sacrifice fly to center field.
Loux got things started in the fourth again when she singled down the right field line to score Jackson, the Perez unloaded on a three-run home run to right knocking in Smith and Loux.
Kylie Dodson started game two in the circle for OCU, going five innings and giving up three hits while striking out three. Dodson, a freshman from Mustang, Okla., earned her 19th win of the year.
Oklahoma City returns to action at 2 p.m. Friday for a doubleheader against SAGU at the Waxahachie Sports Complex in Waxahachie, Texas.
