OCU takes 6-4 loss to Texas Wesleyan

Ffith-ranked Stars take another crack at 17th-ranked Texas Wesleyan at 1 p.m. Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas – Oklahoma City University's rally fell short in a 6-4 setback to Texas Wesleyan on Friday at Sycamore Park in a matchup of top 20-ranked NAIA baseball teams.
Tyler Williams knocked in three runs for OCU. The fifth-ranked Stars dropped to 29-5, 10-3 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., brought home a run on an infield single in the seventh inning to cut the Stars' deficit to 6-4.
OCU whittled the Texas Wesleyan lead down to 6-3 in the fifth. Williams hit a fly ball into center field that scored Jared Hazeldine.
Williams provided the Stars with a 2-0 edge by nailing an RBI single into left field in the third inning. Bryson Lierle drove in a run on a base hit through the infield into left field in the first.
Texas Wesleyan, ranked 17th, rallied with five runs in the fourth. Shealdion Jamanika had an RBI single to put Texas Wesleyan up 5-2 in the fourth.
Bryce Milligan took his first loss of the season. Milligan, a junior right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., fell to 7-1 with his first loss since May 25, 2018 against Southeastern (Fla.) in the NAIA World Series.
Texas Wesleyan halted OCU's seven-game winning streak. The Stars had a string of six games in a row with double-digit runs scored.
Williams hit 2-for-3, while Elliott Cary, a senior from Niceville, Fla., had a 2-for-4 game. Dylan Taylor, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., went 2-for-2.
The Stars meet Texas Wesleyan in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas.
