Stars crush Bacone 12-0, 10-1

Fifth-ranked OCU tallies 10 or more runs for fourth consecutive contest

MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Oklahoma City University pounded Bacone 12-0 and 10-1 on Thursday at Warrior Field.
Elliott Cary hammered a three-run home run, while Bryson Lierle hit a pair of homers during OCU's doubleheader sweep. The Stars, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, moved to 27-4, 9-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Cary's three-run blast put Oklahoma City ahead 8-0 in the fourth inning of the first game. The Stars plated four runs in the sixth. Tristan Williams socked an RBI single, then Peyton Crispin belted a two-run base hit. Dylan Taylor had a run-scoring single for the final margin.
Crispin nailed a two-run single to put OCU up 3-0 in the second. Crispin, a sophomore from Lookeba, Okla., knocked in a season-best runs while going 2-for-3.
Caleb Davis, a junior from Yukon, Okla., scored three runs with a 2-for-3 showing, and Williams, a freshman from Southlake, Texas, posted a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and an RBI. Taylor, a junior from Tulsa, Okla., went 2-for-3 with a run driven in.
Bryce Milligan tallied the victory after working four innings of one-hit ball with six strikeouts. Milligan, a junior right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., retired the first nine batters he faced. He went to 7-0 on the year and 20-2 in his OCU career. Chris Bennefield fanned two in two innings, and Tyler Milligan closed out the game by striking out the side.
In the second game, Lierle crushed a two-run shot in the first, then blasted a three-run homer to give the Stars a 5-0 advantage in the second. Lierle tacked on a run-scoring base hit in the third to put OCU on top 7-0.
Seth Jones went deep for a two-run blast and his first career homer in the fourth.
Lierle, a junior from Altus, Okla., drove in a season-high six runs and turned in a 3-for-3 ledger with two runs scored, while Chris Goldston, a freshman from Leedey, Okla., went 2-for-3 with a run scored for OCU.
Crispin went 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Jones brought home four runs on 2-for-4 hitting.

Brandon Goldston and Chris Goldston pitched for the Stars. Brandon Goldston, a junior right-hander from Leedey, Okla., took the win with five innings thrown. He fanned three while allowing an unearned run on two hits and two walks. Chris Goldston struck out four in two innings while permitting a hit.
OCU has reached double figures in hits and runs scored the past four games.
The Stars conclude their series with Bacone at 2 p.m. Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
