OCU smacks Bacone 12-0

Stars collect 10 hits for the 13th time this season

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City University steamrolled Bacone 12-0 on Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
The Stars receive 10 hits from 10 different players to crush the Warriors. OCU, ranked fifth in NAIA baseball, moved to 28-4, 10-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City was held hitless for the first three innings. In the fourth, the Stars got on the board when Tristan Williams and Chris Goldston scored when Grant Harrison smacked a double into the left field corner and then Quinton Walbergh knocked in Harrison with a single back up the middle.
Oklahoma buried Bacone under an eight-run fifth inning. Caleb Davis got the scoring started when he crossed the plate on a wild pitch by Bacone's Christian Filpo Jr. Harrison hit a sacrifice fly to left to score John Anthon, then Michael Spetter smacked a three-run home run to left-center scoring Tristan Williams and C. Goldston. Bryson Lierle hammered a double down the left field line to drive in Jared Hazeldine and Garrett Horton. Lierle reached home via an error to push OCU lead to 11-0.
In the sixth, Hazeldine pounded a double to left-center field for the last run and a 12-0 Stars advantage.
Jake Patterson notched the victory, moving to 5-1. Patterson, a junior right-hander from Ardmore, Okla., struck out five in 5.0 innings of work for OCU. Justin Berry, a junior lefty from Union City, Calif., came on an struck out the side in the sixth and Tanner Andrews, a senior from Asher, Okla. finished up on the mound for the Stars.
Oklahoma City welcomes No. 13 Oklahoma Wesleyan in a make-up game at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
