OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University conquered Mid-America Christian 7-3 on Friday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Bryce Milligan stays perfect on the season going six innings and striking out 12. OCU, ranked seventh in NAIA baseball, won the first game of the series to move to 22-3, 6-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Oklahoma City scored two runs in the first inning without collecting a hit. Noah Barks led off the inning by getting nailed by a pitch and then came in to score on a Quinton Walbergh grounder to second, then Bryson Lierle drove in Elliott Cary also with a grounder to second.
In the third, Tyler Williams doubled home Walbergh. Tristan Williams knocked in Tyler Williams and Lierle with a double to right center, and Dylan Taylor single back through the pitchers legs to score Tristan Williams give OCU a 5-0 advantage.
MACU got their three runs in the top of the fifth when Diego Pichardo tripled to the right field corner to drive in Raymond Rodriguez and Leo Berjaran. Yan Ely Adames drove in Pichardo with a single to center cutting the Stars lead to 6-3.
OCU added a run in the bottom of the fifth when Tristan Williams reach on a fielder's choice to the shortstop allowing Lierle to score. Tristan Williams was 1-of-4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Lierle went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, while Tyler Williams was 1-for-3 on the day with a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored.
Bryce Milligan earned the victory to improve to 6-0 this year. Bryce Milligan, a junior right-hander from Blanchard, Okla., struck out 12 and allowed seven hits and a walk in six innings surrendering three earned runs. This is the fourth straight game that he has struck out double-digits. Justin Berry worked the final three innings to collect his first save of the season collecting seven strike outs and allowed a hit.
The Stars finish their series against Mid-America Christian with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday at James Curtis Field.
