OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University knocked 11 hits leading to a 4-2 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Monday at Jim Wade Stadium.
Tyler Williams drove in three runs and Grant Harrison collected an RBI on the day. The Stars, ranked seventh in NAIA baseball, moved to 21-3.
Tyler Williams, a junior from Peoria, Ariz., went 2-for-3 at the plate with a home run and a sacrifice fly, while Harrison, a freshman from Jones, Okla., drove in the game winning run in the fourth inning while going 2-of-3 on the day with a run scored.
Dylan Grove, a senior from Moore, Okla., snagged the win in relief throwing 2.2 innings to improve to 3-1 allowing three hits and striking out three. Kolin Marley, a junior from Norman, Okla., got the start going four innings allowing two runs while collecting three strike outs and giving up two hits. Tanner Andrews, a senior from Asher, Okla., threw the final inning to shut the door on his third save of the year.
In the second inning Tyler Williams unloaded on the second pitch he saw driving it down the left field line over the scoreboard. Oklahoma Christian tied it up at 1-1 in the top of the third, when Alex Garcia grounded to second to score Callen Crockett.
Oklahoma City built a 2-1 edge in the third. Harrison singled to left moved up to third on a Noah Barks double to right center and came in to score on a Tyler Williams sacrifice fly to right center.
The Eagles tied the game back up in the top of the fourth. Kevin Collyar scored when Hunter Markwardt grounded back to the pitcher.
OCU got back out in front for good in the bottom half of the inning when Harrison dove the 1-1 pitch back through the box to score Peyton Crispin.
The Stars added an insurance run in the fifth when Tyler Williams knocked in Elliot Cary to put OCU out from 4-2.
Joining Tyler Williams and Harrison with multiple hits was Quinton Walbergh, a senior from Edmond, Okla., went 2-for-4. Barks, Cary, Crispin, Bryson Lierle and Tristan Williams each tallied a hit on the day, each going 1-for-4. Barks and Crispin each had a double for the Stars.
OCU faces Kansas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Jim Wade Stadium.
