OCU wallops Southwestern Assemblies of God 83-61

Stars' winning streak reaches 10 consecutive games

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University topped Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) 83-61 on Thursday night at the Sheaffer Center.
Oklahoma City ran its winning streak to 10. The Stars, ranked 12th in NAIA Division I, moved to 23-2, 16-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Abby Selzer, a freshman from Thomas, Okla., collected 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals in 17 minutes of action. Selzer shot 8-for-9 from the field. Mallory Lockhart, a freshman from Keller, Texas, totaled 12 points, four rebounds and two steals for OCU.
Michaela Kay, a senior from Spokane, Wash., chipped in eight points, five assists and three steals, while Taylor Sylvester, a junior from Chickasha, Okla., added eight points and three blocked shots for the Stars. Payton Taylor, a sophomore from Ada, Okla., contributed eight points and two steals.
OCU took advantage of 20 Southwestern Assemblies of God turnovers to score 27 points. The Stars had 32 points off the bench.
The Stars reeled off 10 unanswered points to build a 35-20 second-quarter lead. Lockhart and Kay nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to highlight OCU's run. Taylor's jumper capped the surge at the 5:24 mark.
Oklahoma City faces Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m. Saturday at Abe Lemons Arena.
