Stars' Dirane gains win in Martin Invitational

Kipkoros picks up second in mile run

NORMAN, Okla. – Moses Dirane of Oklahoma City University grabbed the victory in the 1,000 meters in the J.D. Martin Invitational on Saturday at the Mosier Indoor Track & Field Facility.
Dirane hit the provisional qualifying standard in the 1,000, and Oscar Kipkoros had a B standard-qualifying time in the mile.
Dirane, a junior from Hammanskraal, South Africa, crossed the finish line in 2 minutes, 32.76 seconds.
Kipkoros, a junior from Iten, Kenya, covered the mile in 4:19.58. His time ranked 11th among the NAIA in the event this season.
Ilijah Coleman, a junior from Pine Ridge, S.D., came away with a runner-up finish in the 800 meters. Coleman turned in a time of 1:57.41.
OCU competes next in the Pittsburg State Indoor Gorilla Classic on Feb. 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kan.

OCU relay team comes up big in Lion Open

JOPLIN, Mo. – Oklahoma City University's distance medley relay team became victorious Friday night in the Missouri Southern Lion Open at the Leggett & Platt Athletics Center.
The Stars' Ilijah Coleman, Moses Dirane, Oscar Kipkoros and Bryce McConnell qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships with their performance.
OCU clocked a time of 10 minutes, 19.87 seconds for the third fastest time in the NAIA this season.
The national meet will be contested Feb. 28-March 2 in Brookings, S.D.
