OCU pounds York 15-5

Davis collects three more RBIs, bringing his season total to eight

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University pummeled York (Neb.) 15-5 on Sunday at Jim Wade Stadium.
OCU's Caleb Davis spearheaded the Stars' offensive showing by going 2-for-2 with three RBIs, a run, a walk and hit by the pitch twice, including a bases clearing double down the left field line in the first inning. Oklahoma City, ranked 8th in NAIA baseball, improved to 4-0 overall, while York fell to 1-3.
John Anthon went 2-for-3 with a 2-run homerun, three RBIs and a runs, while Tyler Williams finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs.
The Stars got on the scoreboard early as they pushed across five runs in the bottom of the first inning on Davis' double, a run-scoring single by Anthon and capped off with a Seth Jones double down the left field line.
York got on the board in the top of the second scoring one and plating three runs in the top of the third to cut into the Stars lead to 5-4.
Dylan Grove, a senior from Moore, Okla., got the win for OCU pitching 4.0 innings giving up five hits, four runs and striking out four. Kolin Marley came in and threw 2.0 innings striking out four and Tyler Milligan closed the game out for the Stars throwing an inning giving up a run on a hit and he struck out one.
OCU stretched its lead in the third with two runs on Anthon's 2-run homerun to make it a 7-4 game. The Stars broke the game open in fourth inning by scoring three runs on a Ty. Williams RBI single, Elliott Cary scored during a Garrett Horton double play and Bryson Lierle doubled home Ty. Williams. Oklahoma City added a run on a Cary double scoring Noah Barks in the fifth. In the sixth inning OCU scored four runs off a Dillon Goddard double that Chris Goldston scored, Michael Spetter scored on a Grant Harrison infield single to second and Harrison and Goddard scored on a Ty. Williams single down the right field line to move the Stars ahead 15-4.
York added a run in the top of the seventh on a Jake Sola homerun, the third homerun on the day for the Panthers. OCU's leadoff hitter Barks went 2-for-4 with two run, while Lierle and Jones nabbed two-hit games.
The Stars returns to the diamond on Friday at 2 p.m. against Cumberland (Tenn.) at Jim Wade Stadium.
