OCU trounces Texas A&M-Texarkana 8-3

B. Milligan increases total innings pitched without giving up an earned run to 20.2

OKLAHOMA CITY – Five different Stars recorded two hits and Oklahoma City University rolled to an 8-3 victory over Texas A&M-Texarkana Friday afternoon at Jim Wade Stadium.
Noah Barks and Quinton Walbergh led OCU with two hits, an RBI and a run each. The Stars, ranked eighth in the NAIA, improved to 8-0 on the season while Texas A&M-Texarkana fell to 4-5. Bryce Milligan picked up his second win of the year for Oklahoma City, striking out six, allowing six hits and an unearned run in 6.2 innings of work.
The Stars took the lead in the bottom of the first when Walbergh and Elliott Cary was drove in by a Tyler Williams double down the left field line. OCU added two more runs in the second, stared off with a Bryson Lierle double to right center followed by Tristan Williams reached on a bunt single, then both came around to score on a Barks single to center that the center fielder overran.
TAMUT got a run in the fourth after back to back singles, a double play and followed by a fielding error at third to cut the Stars lead to 4-1.
Lierle led off the sixth with a missile up the middle, advanced to third on a double by Tr. Williams and then crossed the plate when Barks grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. The Stars held a 5-1 lead after six innings.
Cary led off the seventh with a double, came into score on a wild pitch that extended OCU's lead to five runs after seven innings.
In the eighth inning John Anthon started things off with a pinch hit double off the top of the wall in right center and back-to-back singles from Barks and Walbergh sparked the Stars for a two-run inning. Dillon Goddard, who pinch ran for Anthon scored on Walbergh's single singled and later Barks scored on a wild pitch by Jon Boucher.
Texas A&M-Texarkana was able to get two more runs in the top of the ninth to cut the deficit to 8-3.
Chris Goldston closed the game for OCU, allowing three hits and two runs in 2.1 innings of work and struck out one.
The Stars return to action on Saturday for a game against Bellevue (Neb.) at 12:30 p.m. at Jim Wade Stadium.
