OCU absorbs loss to top-ranked Park

Stars beat Morningside, Providence in tiebreakers to get to 16-team elimination bracket

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Oklahoma City University fell to No. 1-ranked Park (Mo.) 25-19, 27-25, 25-17 on Thursday at the Tyson Events Center in the NAIA women's volleyball championships presented by Marriott South Sioux City Riverfront.
Oklahoma City (34-3) went to 1-2 in pool play in the NAIA Championships. The 16th-ranked Stars finished tied with Morningside (Iowa) and Providence (Mont.) with the same pool-play record.
Defending national champion Park advanced to bracket play by virtue of its 3-0 pool-play mark. To decide the second team to advance beyond pool play out of this group, OCU defeated Providence 25-21 and Morningside 25-12 in tiebreaker sets late Thursday night. The Stars face Northwestern (Iowa) at 1 p.m. Friday.
Against Park, Ella Lofton led the Stars with 11 kills while picking up five digs. Sophia Salak accumulated 32 assists, eight digs, six kills and two blocks, while Isabel Harwell had a team-high 14 digs.
Marijana Bjelobrk provided OCU with eight kills and nine digs, and Kenady Bertling added eight kills. Lacy Beeler posted seven kills and 11 digs.
