OCU trounces Texas A&M-Texarkana 87-38

Stars begin season with victory for fourth consecutive season

WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma City University crushed Texas A&M-Texarkana 87-38 on Friday night at the Sheaffer Center in the Southwestern Assemblies of God Classic.
Abby Selzer, a sophomore from Thomas, Okla., spearheaded the Stars with 18 points and six rebounds. OCU, ranked third in NAIA Division I women's basketball, extended its winning streak in season openers to four in a row.

Selzer hit 9 of her 10 shots from the field. Mallory Lockhart, a sophomore from Keller, Texas, had 15 points and three assists while burying five treys for the Stars.
Jaelyn Knight, a freshman from Georgetown, Texas, accumulated 12 points and five rebounds, and Payton Taylor, a junior from Ada, Okla., turned in 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Brennyn Seagler, a senior from Gruver, Texas, supplied OCU with nine points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Erika Ankney, a sophomore from Harrah, Okla., topped the team with four assists and four thefts.  
Oklahoma City reeled off a 23-0 run that started late in the first half and continued halfway into the third quarter. Seagler converted a 3-point play to cap the OCU surge and put the Stars ahead 57-22 with 4:47 to go in the third.
OCU led by as many as 51 points on Knight's bucket late in the game.
The Stars wrap up their trip to Waxahachie, Texas, by meeting LSU-Shreveport at 1 p.m. Saturday.
