Mid-America Christian edges OCU 3-2 in 2OT

Seniors Brantley, Titsworth score in Stars loss

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City University was edged by Mid-America Christian 3-2 Tuesday on Senior Day at Brian Harvey Field.
OCU (8-7, 4-3 Sooner Athletic Conference) got a pair of goals from two seniors, Rachel Brantley and Jessica Titsworth, but Mid-America Christian (9-3-1, 4-1-1 SAC) outdueled the Stars and handed them a double overtime loss on their final home match of the season.
The Stars jumped on the scoreboard in the 15th minute when Rachel Brantley took a pass from Madi Caputo and beat MACU goalkeeper Jennifer Starwalt from 12 yards to make the score 1-0.
The Evangels evened the score at 1-1 in the 26th minute when Kelsey Henry found the back of the net from 4 yards off a free kick by Marga Franco.
Oklahoma City regained the lead in the 60th minute when Jessica Titsworth put in a rebound off a missed shot from Caputo to make the score 2-1.
In the 78th minute, the Evangels tied up the match once again with Ariadna Ramirez nailing a 20-yard laser into the right side off a ball from Liz Lozano. The final 12 minutes were scoreless and the two sides went to overtime.
After more than 19 minutes of play, the Evangels found the back of the net with Bayleigh Fink beating OCU keeper Nadine Steiner and hitting the game-winner from 8 yards in the 110th minute.
The Stars did not record a shot in either overtime, receiving just one corner kick during the 20 minutes of play.
OCU senior Kristina Patterson played the first half in the net, allowing one goal. Nadine Steiner played 64-plus minutes, capturing one save.
Seniors Keilah Ayum, Brantley, Rebekah Brantley, Kalen Castor, Patterson and Titsworth were honored after the match for their time wearing a Stars uniform. These seniors have contributed to an OCU women's soccer record of 36-27-3 over the last four years.
The Stars are still in the hunt to capture a home match in the SAC Tournament from Nov. 9-15. They will return to action against Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 1 p.m. Saturday in Plainview, Texas.
