Stars fall to 5-7, 0-4 on the year

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City University men's soccer team lost to John Brown (Ark.) 3-0 on Saturday at Brian Harvey Field, falling to 0-4 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
The Stars moved to 5-7, 0-4 in the SAC, while JBU improved to 9-2, 3-0 in the SAC. The Stars goalkeeper Andre Salvador, a senior from Sao Bento do Sul, Brazil, notched four saves in the losing effort.
Aleksa Mitrovic, a junior from Belgrade, Serbia, recorded two shots on goal for the Stars, almost finding the back of the net on a rocket that was saved by JBU goalkeeper Britt Wisener.
Amilcar Gonzalez scored in the 40th minute from an assist by Jacob Zamarron to put the Golden Eagles up 1-0 at the break.
Oscar Carballo netted a shot from eight yards off a ball from Gonzalez in the 51st minute. Dalton Georgopulos put the game away with a goal in the 77th minute off a Zamarron assist.
Wisener tallied three saves and improved to 9-2 as JBU's goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles owned the shot advantage at 12-5.
The Stars return to action 3 p.m. Wednesday against Central Christian (Kan.) in McPherson, Kan.
